So Big Lar (that's my daddy--we call him that cuz what he lacks for in size he makes up for in personality and attitude) has been telling me for about six months that he has BAGS of doilies that my Grandma Rozen made and can I do anything with them. I was thinking "doilies" you know, the white circle things that are lovely, but really, who wants to admit to having doilies all around the house? So I'd been looking for something fun to do with them and I finally came upon a Pinterest pin: 101 things to do w/ doilies or something. I finally said "okay, bring em to me."
Well I looked in the bag this morning and flipped!
Yes, there are doilies, but there are also lovely embroidered pieces on vintage fabrics.
I wish I knew how to do this stuff!
Big fan of the teapot towel!
Obviously, I will not be crafting with these pieces, although I have a mind to make a piecework quilt out of them for my dad. It would make a lovely, multi-generational heirloom!
It's crazy, you know, I was not close to my grandma at all, but I wish I had been, since I obviously get my craftiness (and perhaps a little craziness too!) from her. Plus she loved cooking and so do I . Funny how inspiration comes from unexpected places sometimes. What a treasure trove!
